tour info:
Nine Inch Nails, the supporting act, but not as usual. NIN started and in the end of their set Bowie came up on stage and together they performed 5 songs (Subterraneans / Scary Monster / NIN-Reptile / Hallo Spaceboy / NIN-Hurt).

Subterraneans was used with Trent Reznor on saxophone, Bowie singing some of the lyrics from Scary Monsters very slow over the music. This intro was used to mark the arrival of Bowie on stage, at least at some of the US shows.
